The only tech skill I have at the moment is web design, but I will be working towards learning python, javascript and maybe more later on in life.
I chose Colby Community College because while I was discussing college with my mom, it was brought up and their pre-vet program is supposed to be a great program. Plus, it is close to home so I would still be allowed to live in my house while getting college prerequisites out of the way.
While I realize that this college is extremely difficult to get into, I chose the University of Pennsylvania due to the fact that they are said to have the most prestegious veterinary program in the US, being the only program to give out the VMD license instead of the DVM license. This is seen as a great accomplishment in the veterinary field, which is the field I wish to go into.
Being a veterinarian is a very important job, otherwise lots of people would be heartbroken over their dogs. Dogs are an essential part of life nowadays, and almost everyone I know has one. They play the important role of mans best friend, and I couldn't agree more. Veterinarians are typically the practitioners who perform surgery or check ups on sick or injured dogs to help them in their time of need. This can cost a lot, but it's always worth it to keep your best friend.
I chose this career path because I love animals. Ever since I was a little kid, I've always been fascinated by any type of animal. Fun fact, my first word was actually puppy. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what will. Another contributing factor to this is my dog currently, Dexter. Dexter was a rescue from my moms old clinic, he was in a kennel for up to 22 hours a day (though we presume probably more) and was neglected. With him being an Australian Shepherd, this was awful conditions for him. He came into the clinic lethargic and had many kidney issues, and was even in an early stage of kidney failure. We asked the family to give him up and they did, and seeing as he had nowhere to go, we took him. Now, he's my best friend and he goes to work with me every day. I was very glad to get him out of there, especially now that he is happy and playing with our dogs. We saved him and he trauma bonded directly to me, and I couldn't be more grateful.
